What is Lady Rebel Leader all about and why is it important?

Rebellious Courage

In a world that seems to want us to conform we believe that the way to a better world is through challenging the status quo.

Expertly Creative

In a world dominated by one size fits all solutions, we craft bespoke change processes through the fusion of science and intuition.

Pragmatic Hope

In a world full of false promises and shortcuts we believe in strategically crafting pathways to your chosen future that are grounded in your reality.

Authentic Justice

In a world where so many are focused on income over integrity, we believe in transparency, honesty and treating everyone with respect.

Radical Empathy

In a world lacking connection we meet you where you are at, with an open heart and without judgement.

Hello, I'm Dr Erica Bowen

I am a pragmatic hope-maker in that I believe change is possible for everyone, but you need a goal, a strategy, self-belief and to take action.

I am a rebellious ambivert in that I love challenging the status quo (never tell me I can’t do something!), but need down time, an oat latte and good book to recover.

As a radical empath and HSP I connect deeply with my clients because I have walked the path you are on, and I use my empathy to help you create change for yourself.

My job is to help you develop replicable strategies so you can sustainably achieve your ambitions, and create the change you want to see in the world.

I am a registered forensic and Chartered coaching psychologist with more than 20 years’ experience of supporting people to achieve their potential and create impact, and it almost didn’t happen.

"My confidence has increased - far more than I thought it would after coaching with Erica!  I feel able to take on tasks that I was 'stuck' on and know where my priorities lie and what I value.  I feel able to not 'talk myself down' and to know that I have a value in my workplace.  I really feel like the coaching has helped me find my feet and know what I want to get out of this job, and I've been promoted twice in two years."
– JM, purpose-led Academic

I grew up quickly in a working-class dysfunctional family but loved reading, playing musical instruments and learning.  I obtained a place at University a year early.  I was the archetypal ‘good girl’. And then I dropped out.  I simply knew that I was on the wrong path.

Seventeen years later I had three degrees in Psychology  (including a PhD),  a 6-year-old son and ageing parents. I was a Registered Forensic Psychologist specialising in domestic abuse prevention and promoted to Full Professor at the age of 37.

I had become 'one of the most strategic people I know' according to my line manager!

Sounds amazing, right?

Well it could have been apart from the fact I was on the verge of burnout, again.

I had developed incredible leadership strategies, but no 'sustainability' strategies.

I remember feeling empty, despite the qualifications, the promotions, despite the external symbols of 'success'. I felt as though I didn't know who I was.

And then I found coaching, and everything changed.

Coaching enabled me to embrace my naturally held belief that people are not broken, they have the skills and resources they need to succeed, but sometimes they get disconnected from them.  Just like I had.

Coaching helped me create life strategies so that I could connect deeply to who I really am, and live life in a way that my needs are my first, not last, consideration.

Today, this is what I do.

By applying evidence-based psychological models in combination with my experience of people and project management, I help impact-driven female leaders and business owners create strategies so they can put their needs first, lead effectively, create impact and avoid burnout.
